Glasgow Electric is shutting down its power supply to the city, due to a fire at its power plant.
The company said the fire broke out at its main power plant, and that it was unable to continue operations, as the facility was unsafe.
“Due to this incident, the company has been forced to make the decision to discontinue its operations,” the company said in a statement.
“Our customers have been extremely helpful in helping us manage this issue.”
In accordance with our standard operating procedures, the incident was closed to the public.
“We are currently working closely with our local fire brigade, and we have made contingency plans to meet the needs of our customers.”
Glasgow Power said that it had no other power lines in the area, and would continue to monitor the situation.
It has been reported that about 150 customers were without power for about 10 minutes on Monday night, with power restored at about 6:00am.
